Welcome
Dear Students, Families, Staff, and Visitors,
It is with great pride and genuine excitement that I welcome you to LPW College.
LPW College is more than a place of further education; it is a community committed to supporting young people as they take their next steps towards adulthood, independence, and meaningful futures. Building on the values and ethos of LPW School, we continue our journey as a trauma-informed, emotionally available educational provision where every learner is seen, heard, and deeply valued.
As Head of College, I am privileged to work alongside a dedicated team of passionate and compassionate professionals who share a commitment to helping young people flourish. Together, we strive to create an environment where learners can achieve success not only in their academic studies, but also in their social, emotional, and personal development.
At the heart of our approach is the belief that strong relationships create the foundation for learning. We prioritise emotional safety, trust, and connection in everything we do. Every interaction is grounded in kindness, curiosity, and understanding because we recognise that each young person brings with them a unique story, experience, and set of strengths. Our role is to listen, support, and empower them to reach their full potential.
We are ambitious for every learner. Whether their future pathway leads to higher education, an apprenticeship, supported employment, or the world of work, we are committed to helping them develop the confidence, skills, and qualifications needed to pursue careers and opportunities they are genuinely excited about. Success looks different for every individual, and we celebrate each step forward.
As a community-focused organisation, LPW College places people at the centre of all we do. We are committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment where learners feel that they belong and where their achievements, efforts, and aspirations are recognised and celebrated.
Thanks,
George - Head of College
About Us
LPW College is an Alternative Learning setting for young people aged 16-18 years.
We pride ourselves on providing a welcoming, stable and friendly learning environment that supports students to re-engage with education and build strong relationships with a supportive team of emotionally available and trusted staff.
We are part of the City of Bristol College, and our programme is designed to support learners aged 16-18 who have experienced significant challenges within mainstream education settings, including persistent non-attendance, disengagement, or early withdrawal from provision.
This can include young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) status, Educational Health Care Plans (EHCPs), Social Worker Involvement and/or Young Carer responsibilities.
Our experience
LPW College is part of LPW’s wider educational offer, which include graduated support for children and young people who experience barriers to education and learning. Our aim is to re-engage children and young people with learning at the earliest possible opportunity, and to support them to achieve positive outcomes and successful onward transition.
Our approach
LPW college has a trauma-informed, non-punitive approach, and focuses on re-engaging young people in their education by providing individualised, tailored learning opportunities that support progression towards further education, training, employment, or a return to more mainstream learning environments.
Through a combination of accredited study, work experience, and personal development activities, our course provides learners with meaningful opportunities to develop academically, personally, and professionally. Our learning is holistic and equips young people with the knowledge, skills, and confidence required to take positive first steps into adulthood and future career pathways.
LPW’s Alternative Education offer includes:

Part-Time Alternative Learning (Education Recovery Project and Ember)
